How To Escape A Shark - Wait A Second, You Won't Need To

You're out swimming in the ocean. You're on your period, but you don't think much of it. You're happily swimming around, doing some laps, when suddenly you see it: a shark. It's coming toward you. It has smelled the period blood and is coming to attack -
BULLCRAP.
Absolute bullcrap.
Here's a fact: If you go swimming on your period, you will not be attacked by a shark.

Reason #1
A person on their period will bleed surprising little in the water. It's held in by the water pressure. Now think about this: a tiny little drop of blood among gallons and gallons of water. The blood will spread and disperse. Now a shark, to smell that blood, would have to find that tiny itty-bitty drop in the ocean. Except it's not even a concentrated drop, it's spread out into tiny molecules.
Reason #2
You're probably wearing a tampon. If you aren't - you should, simply because of the water pressure thing. (When you step out of the water a bunch of blood will come gushing out. Embarrassing!) And now that you're wearing a tampon, the chances of any blood getting out is so tiny. Sooo tiny.
Reason #3
Sharks can't smell as well as you think. Actually, studies show that they can't smell any better than any other fish. Combine that with the tiny amount of blood, I seriously doubt they'll smell it.
Reason #4
Human blood smells much different than a dolphin or fish. Some people theorize that if a shark were to smell menstrual blood, they really wouldn't care - it won't register to them as a  wounded creature that they can eat.

I hope that clears things up! Rest assured, you will not be attacked by a shark if you swim on your flow.
